Changing the Rules !!                             16 December 2016

Councillor Cliff Brewer writes,

"Allocation of land for Traveller sites, like land for houses, is done periodically. In 2011-2012, when sites for Travellers were last allocated, Wyre Forest District Council took the view that the sites for Travellers allocated in Sandy Lane at that time should be the last in that area of town.

The next review will be in 2017, when Stourport councillors expect other parts of the district to be designated for new sites.

At the November 2016 meeting of Wyre Forest District Council's Planning Committee, an application for a further site with 8 pitches in Sandy Lane was considered.

According to the Council's own policy, the application should have been refused.

In the event the vote was tied 6-6, with Labour supporting refusal, but permission was granted by the casting vote of the Conservative chairman.
