Councillor Cliff Brewer reports,
10th April 2018
"The street light currently out in Mart Lane is not the responsibility of the County Council, because this road is not classed as public highway. The owners of the road, the Canal & River Trust, have been requested to carry out the repair.
Our current newsletter features an item about the traffic lights in Mitton Street/Severn Road. Our request for a hatched box to ensure passage from Severn Road to Mitton Street has been turned down, but it is likely that a site meeting will be arranged to discuss other options.
The drainage problem at the pedestrian crossing on Lion Hill/Vale Road/Mitton Street has been reported to Highways and an acknowledgement received that work needs to be undertaken.
I note that the road surface at locations in Lickhill Road North and Bewdley Road are unsatisfactory after work by contractors and I have requested that County Highways address the issue. I understand that Highways will require the contractors to foot the repairs bill."
17th October 2017
"The maintenance of the small landscaped area outside the former Post Office has been taken on by the town council and it already looks much tidier.
At the same location, one notice board is in poor condition. A number of local organisations have contributed sums of money for its replacement.
Stourport Rotary Club is considering the funding of a Christmas tree, to be in place for December 2018. The tree would be planted somewhere in Villeneuve-le-Roi gardens, so would be a permanent feature as well as being decorated for the Festive Season.
The quality of the floral display in town centre hanging baskets has been questioned. Unfavourable comparisons have been made with Kidderminster, Bewdley and Bridgnorth. The town council’s Parks Manager will prepare a report on alternatives and any cost implications for consideration in the council’s future budget plans."
